On August 16, 1999, 54 students and ten teachers walked through the doors of the newly established Acclaim Academy of Davidson for their first day of school. Founded by Lake Norman families and located in the repurposed Liburdi Dimetrics Factory, this new independent school offered an experience-rich education designed to challenge and excite its students. The legacy of Davidson Day School had begun.
1999
Acclaim Academy of Davidson opened its doors to its first students at 412 Armour Street.

2001
Acclaim Academy was renamed Davidson Day School. Ninety-five students were enrolled in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
2003
Davidson Day opened its Upper School with the addition of its first ninth grade class.

2004
School officials and the Davidson Day community broke ground for the construction of the school's soon-to-be new location at 750 Jetton Street.
2007
Davidson Day School's new location on Jetton Street opened for the 2007-2008 school year with 330 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through 11th grade.

2008
Davidson Day's gym and auditorium opened for student use.
2009
Davidson Day graduated its first senior class of ten students.

2011
Davidson Day's Girls' Varsity Soccer Team won the school's first team state championship. The team went on to win the next two state championships to achieve a three-peat.
2020
In March, Davidson Day switched to virtual learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our teachers and students found fun ways to stay connected, and in-person learning resumed in August with many safety precautions.

2024
Davidson Day brought home the 2A NCISAA Wells Fargo Cup and won a remarkable seven state champsionships.
